Correct 19th century new england temple toggle harpoon. As expected used condition with traces of black paint. Temple type harpoon were invented by the new bedford blacksmith L. Temple, hence the name. Temple type irons were made prior to the standard toggle irons. Temple irons are difficult to find. Good used condition. Head swivels. Look at the head, a true temple harpoon has curved cut swivel. Compare it to a standard toggle harpoon which doesn't. See standard harpoons on this site. Approx. l 30" item wh1711
